You'll always find something special happening that is organized, sponsored, hosted, or just promoted by the Recreation Center. Here are a few examples of upcoming events:

Registration Starts:
SPRING 2014: Mon., Jan. 6 (through Fri., Jan. 10) - look for the Lose It table in the Rec Center lobby 10am-6pm during the first week of classes.

PantherFIT Incentives Program

Registration Begins: Walk-in any time
Date: Begins Mon., Jan. 6

fitness montageReceive prizes for attending the PantherFIT classes you already love! Each time you attend a PantherFIT class, get your Incentive Card punched at the Membership Desk. You get a prize when you reach certain levels - begin with a White punchcard (12 punches/classes = a sweat towel), progress to a Yellow card (12 punches/classes = water bottle), then progress to the Blue card and at 12 more punches/classes, receive a t-shirt or tank top.

Prizes may only be collected during the following times: Mondays 2:30pm-5:30pm, Tuesdays 10:20am-2:30pm, and Thursdays 5:30pm-9:00pm. For more information, contact Lia at (305) 348-6835 or email.

Piloxing Master Class

Piloxing incorporates cutting edge research and fitness techniques to burn calories, lean muscles, and increase stamina. This program blends the power, speed, and agility of boxing with the targeted sculpting and flexibility of Pilates.

Reinforce Your New Year's Resolution

Has your New Year's resolution come to a flop? We're here to get you back on track with a 5-day intensive workout program. Each day, Monday-Friday from 5-6:30pm in the 2nd floor Personal Training Zone, we'll have a 45 minute workout to help you meet your goals. Feel free to bring a fellow Panther and reignite your 2014 fitness goals with us! Our trainers will be there for a 15 minute Q&A to assist with nutrition and exercise advice following the session.

Flirty Chair Dancing for Valentine's Day

Flirty chairReady for your Valentine's Day pre-workout? Get ready for 90 minutes of flirty chair dancing followed by a half hour of delicious flexibility training. Unleash your inner diva and dance your way into a heart-pumping workout just in time for Cupid’s bow and arrow.

Spring Into Your Break

boot campSpring Break is only 1 week away! Have you hit your goals for this year’s festivities? Grab some FIU friends and let's make it happen. Join us March 4 and 6 for 2 show-stopping outdoor boot camps to whip us in shape before we hit the beach. Battle ropes, obstacle course, relays, kettle bell drills, and much more!

Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run

Date: Thurs., Apr. 24, 6:45pm
Location: Bayfront Park, downtown Miami
Registration Fee: $40 per person

Corporate RunJoin Recreation Services as we participate in the 29th annual Miami Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run! Represent FIU by taking a "step toward fitness". This 5K run/walk brings together employees and businesses from around Miami to help support the American Red Cross.

To register, go to the Corporate Run website (click here), select "Join/View a Team under the registration subtitle, then click on "Florida International University" and "Join this company".

Want to host a Fitness charity event?

As a result of the increasing demand from campus groups to host "featured" charity fitness events tied to scheduled PantherFIT classes in the Recreation Center, a limit on the number of such events has been established.

A maximum of 2 events each for Fall and Spring semesters, and a maximum of 1 each summer session will be permitted. The online Fitness Charity Event Application (click here) for Fall/Spring is due by the Friday prior to the first day of classes; for both summer sessions, the deadline is May 8. The decision as to which events will be permitted will be announced the first day of the term.

For events that run independently of our regularly scheduled PantherFIT classes, please follow our standard request procedure by completing this online Facility Reservation Request Form. Please note that if this is a fitness-related event, you are responsible for securing an instructor, marketing the event, and collect donations.

Did You Know?

Corporate RunOver 20,000 participants are involved in the annual Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run each year.

Held in April at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami, the race raises money for the American Heart Association as well as bringing hundreds of corporate, education, and business teams together for a major social event.
