The FIU Bike Shop

Recreation Services encourages safe and healthy bicycling, and has partnered with other FIU departments to provide the FIU Bike Shop. More than just a repair shop, the FIU Bike Shop can be the central location for "all things "bike" on campus - from providing a central location to learn more about safe biking, to finding out about local rides and events, and directing you to local and national resources on bicycling.

BIKE RACKS ON CAMPUS

FIU's Modesto Maidique Campus has over 80 bike racks on campus, providing almost 400 bike parking spaces. The majority are the "U" racks, which are anchored into a concrete slab and typically located on the sides of buildings. Frame-style ground racks are located where U racks are not practical , and low-profile ground sleeve racks, located near residence halls, permit clear views. Click here to see the MMC campus map showing locations of racks around campus.

Air PumpsRecreation Services and the Department of Parking & Transportation have partnered to bring bicycle air pumps to a bike rack near you. Purchased from Dero Bike Racks, these heavy-duty air pumps are in the process of being installed on racks around the MMC and BBC campuses for the convenience of FIU's bicyclists. Find them now on various campus bike racks at MMC, the Engineering Center, and BBC.

Bike Shop Funding

The FIU Bike Shop began as a partnership between the offices of Recreation Services, Parking & Transportation, and University Sustainability.

Funding comes from Recreation Services (via SGA allocation) and revenues generated by the Bike Shop itself.
